Deshaun Thomas: Spur

Deshaun Thomas broke a few Buckeye hearts when he declared for the NBA draft. It has paid off as he will be placed in a pretty good situation as a San Antonio Spur. Thomas was tabbed as the 58th pick, overall.

Deshaun-Thomas

Sure, I’m biased, but I think Thomas could be a steal. Thomas helped lead the Buckeyes to an outstanding 94 wins over the last three years. He amassed 1,630 career points, which places him at 9th all-time in Ohio State history. He scored 205 points in NCAA tournament play, good for #2 all-time.

Thomas led the Big Ten Conference in scoring with 19.8 points per game during his Junior campaign. He led the Buckeyes in rebounding with 5.9 RPG. He is only the 25th Buckeye to score more than 1,000 points and record 500+ rebounds. Amassing these numbers in a very strong B1G conference is nothing to sneeze at.

San Antonio is a veteran team who has “been there” more consistently than any other NBA team in recent history. It should be a good position to grow and learn from some of the best in the game. He will not have the pressure to be “the guy” and that should bode well for him.

Congrats to Deshaun on the next adventure in life!
